More Information on our Mission and Vision
Shawn Hibbard, principal of DFSI, is a staff sergeant in the US Army Reserves and has over 20 years of service. Over the course of his career, Shawn has spent 4 years on active duty and deployed 3 times. The bulk of his deployments were to Afghanistan, where he served as an infantryman and as an NCO. During his last deployment, he served as a sniper on a counter IED team and supported multiple special operations units as a subject matter expect in IED Defeat Operations. During his deployments to Afghanistan, SSG Hibbard was injured in several IED strikes but remained in the fight. As a result of his heroic actions that day, Shawn received a Bronze Star with Valor Device as well as a Battlefield Promotion to the rank of Staff Sergeant. After return, Shawn played professional football for 2 years in the IFL. Shawn was offered a tryout with the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury and retired from professional sports.
Shawn donates his time and resources to multiple community-focused organizations, activities and special projects. He has partnered with local small businesses to develop baseball fields for the town of Middletown, VA and the veterans who live in that area. He also continues to serve his community as a pastor and is one of the founders and trustees of Legacy Christian Academy, a private school in Stephens City, VA.
